About Me

The ship of my life may or may not be sailing on calm and amiable seas. The challenging days of my existence may or may not be bright and promising. Stormy or sunny days, glorious or lonely nights, I maintain an attitude of gratitude. If I insist on being pessimistic, there is always tomorrow. Today I am blessed.

This is one woman’s attempt at turning rocks into GOLDEN NUGGETS…finding POSITIVITY in everyday life…being HAPPY with the ME I am today, but always striving for MY personal best!

    Hi Melanie,
My husband Virgil Phelps connected with you through Facebook when you asked to see some pictures he had of your Dad. So who am I; well an admirer to say the least. The very first time I saw you, you were about three days old and just the cutest thing ever. The last time I saw you was about twelve years ago when you dropped by your Dad’s place and he casually introduced us to you. But you were busy with a girl friend and less than anxiousa to meet some “old” frineds of his.
So, you’re still wondering who I am. Well, I was your Uncle Jack’s wife although he and I split up when you were a kid. So, in spite of the fact that I’m not still his wife, I sitll think of myself as a member of the Strickland clan. You happen to be my only neice (by marriage or otherwise). I’ve tried to keep up with your life although it’s been hard since I live in Masachusetts now. But whenever I speak with Grover I always ask how you and Cleve are doing.
I really enjoyed your UTube and I’ve got you on my favorites page now. For inspiration and good cheer I’ll be making it a point to check on your Golden Nuggets each day. YOu’ve turned out to a beautiful young woman, but I can’t decide if you look more like Carroll or Grover. Either way, I wish you all the best and plan to keep watching.

Hi Aunt Wendy! I read this to my mom and she wanted me to ask how you are doing and what you are doing these days?! Thank you so much for reaching out! I apologize if in my teen years I was dismissive. All I can say is that we live and we learn. I hope that you are doing well and I hope that you will continue reading and watching! 🙂

Hi Melanie and Happy New Year!
I was so excited to get your reply this morning. Well Virgil and I have been up here in Massachusetts for twenty-three years now. He is retired, but I still teach chemistry and astronomy at the local high school. We live here on the edge of Wenham Lake, and my Mom lives with us. She’s 96, about to be 97, and full of “piss and vinegar.” She’s off to her house in New Hampshire next week to go skiing! Unfortunately I’m back to school on Monday. 😦
Be sure and give my best to your Mom. I’d love to see her and your Uncle Danny too. My husband Virgil has been to Texas several times in the past few years dealing with family matters, but I haven’t been back since I saw you last. I have mentioned to him that I’d like to get down there this summer to see all my old haunts and old friends. We’ll see.
I got your email through my school account, the one I gave you, but the source said no-repy@wordpress.com. Am I wrong in thinking that an email to that account goes NOWHERE? Is this website still the best place to email you or do you have another direct email.
I’m so thrilled to hear from you and to read all your uplifting thoughts. It’s made my day!

Much love to all the family, Wendy
